How To Air Dry Thick Hair Without It Becoming A Frizz Disaster Area

Updated: Mar 21, 2021

1) Rule number one when air-drying your hair is to not vigorously rub it with your towel - this is a fast track to frizz! Gently pat the damp out of your hair instead to remove all excess moisture.

2) Next step: detangling.

As you may already know, its a total no-no to brush curly/ unmanageable hair when it's dry. Instead, on towel dried hair, spray a good quality professional Leave In Conditioner (Happy Camper's is glorious and has UV and Heat Protection too).

Make sure to stay away from bristle brushes which will tear your hair, and instead use your fingers or a wide tooth comb to gently comb your hair through.

3) If your hair is particularly wild and needs extra help when it comes to frizz management, you need to use something in your hair before it dries (air dried or otherwise). Our favourite in Salon is Easy Tiger- it's a cream which adds softness and shine, as well as controlling frizz. It also has a slight hold. It really is fantastic.

4) Lastly, whatever you do, do not touch your hair whilst it dries! It will cause unnecessary frizz and may encourage your hair to lose its shape.
